I admire his enthusiasm and dedication to poetry. I thought his presentation was extremely beneficial to us as future teachers because it showed us how fun poetry can be.

I enjoyed the energy he brought to his presentation and how passionate he felt about it. The part I liked the most was how he knew many of his poems. This showed how dedicated to his work he is and also gave us a good sense of who he was as a poet and a performer.

I attended a workshop you taught at the Davis County School district in Farmington, Utah two years ago. I bought your books and began "performing" your poems in class. I then had students "perform" your poems for the class. This has become one of the highlights of the year for my students. Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a difference your poems have made! My class loves your poetry first and then moves on to love poetry from many other poets who are "almost" as good. Poets like Jack Prelutsky, Shel Silverstein, Lewis Carrol, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, etc. etc. My wife and I bought a used copy of "Steel Cables" from Amazon. We have loved reading it together.

When my two grandsons got in the car after school, the first thing they spoke of was the great time they had with Poet Brod. They remembered the poems and they recited several by heart. They got the message about writing and rewriting, courage in the face of fear, and using facial expressions in oral recitation. They thought he was very, very funny.

Bridget Schack / Library Media Specialist
We are so happy to have had such a successful author event this year! Brod has become a celebrity in our school. His celebrity status extended to parents, board members, and faculty from other buildings, who attended his events because there was such great buzz over his visit!

Sierra Furst / Student Teacher
I was extremely glad I attended Brod's workshop. I thought he had a lot of great things to say about poetry, pedagogy, literature, and children in general. He was a very dynamic speaker, gave a very interesting presentation, and gave concrete and appropriate examples of everything he talked about. I also really enjoyed his poems.
